The Power of a Female Circle

One of the timeless channels of strength in my life is having access to some of the amazing women in my life. These humans bring me up when I’m down, inspire me to become a better version of myself, and are there to celebrate the wins and losses.

There is such power in femininity that goes beyond just strong work ethic or mesmerizing sex appeal; for me, it honestly comes down to the internal strength women tend to harbor. And the compassion women hold for other women across the spectrum.

There are several reasons why having female influence in our lives is so potent to our well-being. If you ever need a reminder to call up a girlfriend, let this be it.

Women teach you to be more patient

Across many ancient Chinese traditions and religions like Buddhism, reservation is perceived as a great strength. To make careful observations and tactful decisions before resorting to reactiveness can often aid in victory. Tai Chi is a modern iteration of this exercise. Despite your temptation to move as quickly as possible, this art form forces you to slow down and be as precise as possible with your movements.

When I talk about reservation, it has nothing to do with modesty. More so, women tend to take more time in accessing their situations before initiating a response. They tend to hold strong reserves of toleration and unintentionally practice a lot more mental dexterity.

On the flip side, they’re more likely to endure hardships without complaint. Now of course, extreme resilience has it’s faults— but for the most part it contributes to a woman’s empathetic tendencies. They often hold a deeper connection with pain and can sympathize with others going through challenging times..

It’s always interesting to observe a woman in a stressful situation, such as at work. Although they may appear slightly frazzled, they proceed in accomplishing whatever needs to be done in a beeline fashion. They’re often more careful and meticulous about quality. They won’t go home until it’s done, that’s for sure.

As someone who’s very low on patience in nature, being around my female friends always reminds me to slow down and become more present in the moment.

Women celebrate your existence

The art of gathering is something women are especially talented at. In hunter-gather societies, women gathered frequently in close circles to contribute to tasks, protecting and nourishing the young. In modern times, this might look like office coffee room chats, happy hour between girlfriends, and kid play dates.

What is one thing that almost always happens when a group of women gather together? They coddle each other with compliments and celebrate the smallest to biggest wins of each person. When one person speaks, they turn their attention to one person and wait until they’re completely finished with their thoughts.

The attentiveness and nurturing personalities of women is probably one the most addictive things on the planet. They never fail to make people around them feel accepted, understood and celebrated. And celebration is truly a beautiful thing.

All women understand how hard it can be sometimes to stand up for themselves and even look after themselves above the needs of others. Which is why we need female friends to remind us of our value and worth from time to time. Women tend to probe and ask deeper questions, challenging us to look at some problem we’re facing through a different lens. They encourage us to solve our own problems, even when it’s uncomfortable because they know the road ahead will be brighter for us.

The stereotype where women are perceived as catty, rude, jealous and manipulative is simply a false narrative if you surround yourself with secure and healthy people. Women generally want to see you shine and will be the best cheerleaders.

Many women also inspire through leadership. They believe in their own potential and channel their inner drive and believe in sharing their hard-earned lessons with others. Women are not only great friends, but amazing mentors.

Conclusion

A woman’s words can go 1000 miles. There is a great degree of intuition, strength and a nurturing energy women possess that can bring much light and clarity to the lives of the people around them. I hope you remember to celebrate the women in your life, your core circle of females, as they truly are some of life’s greatest gifts.

  1. […] Celebration is a gorgeous concept— we need to become better at celebrating the little things for others and ourselves. It starts with a gentle reminder. When someone tells us something that’s worth celebrating or we see an image of someone living out their best life, we should remind ourselves to cheer for them. This internal cheer is probably more important than the saying aloud part. We can always say things we don’t actually mean or feel, but if we try to program our emotions to feel a certain way when something happens, we’re creating an authentic internal shift. […]
